Luc Coffeng is an Assistant Professor within the research line Infectious Disease Control of the Department of Public Health, Erasmus MC Rotterdam. His work is focussed on predicting the impact of public health interventions against neglected tropical diseases, and in particular parasitic infections, using mathematical models and Bayesian statistics.

Luc is trained as a medical doctor (MD, 2007) and epidemiologist (MSc, 2011). After having successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled The Health Impact of Onchocerciasis Control in Africa (Erasmus MC Rotterdam, 2013), Luc worked as a Post-Graduate Fellow at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (Seattle, WA, USA) where he quantified the burden of several neglected tropical diseases, skin disease, and non-melanoma skin cancer for the Global Burden of Disease 2013 Study (2013-2014). In 2014, he took up a postdoc position at Erasmus MC again, and has been appointed Assistant Professor as of 2017.
